My Hero, My Father

When  I think  about a hero of my life,  I remember my father. I admire  him because he is  very strong and patriotic. My father ’s hometown was north Korea. He was against his brothers who were communists and had to refuge from  death threats right before the Korean War broke out. When my father and  refugees came across the bridge to go south, the bridge was collapsed  in front of my father because of explosion.   Many refugees died from falling out of  the bridge. He  fortunately was alive but  the river was very deep. H swam across the river  because he was good swimmer. As soon as evacuated to South Korea. He volunteered  the West Point  in South Korea and graduated by himself.  He became a general in the army.  He could never return his hometown and meet with his parents again But, he worried about country and hoped unity of country  until he passed away.

He became inspection commissioner for government because he was reputed to be a man  of cleanest integrity. He rejected all of requests special consideration, but he tried to right wrong. So he saved a soldier who was expelled under  a false accusation . When my father was buried with full military honors in the National Cemetery,  It was the soldier who was a director  in National Cemetery , and  he cherished  his memory of my father.  He was a man of wide reading and a retentive. When I had a question about history, literature and so on , he always had answer. He was rarely  let the book out of his hand on a bed of illness. Looking back upon my father, if he was born in peaceful era , he would be writer or scholar.

He was not only devoted to his country  but also to his family. In other words, he did his best not only for his country but also for his family. He often helped household chores such as washing dishes , cleaning house and cooking rice for his wife. He wanted non-possession, and he give to his family all the things he have and  gave away to subordinate what he got. Even though my mother had  to patch up a hole in his socks because he had no greed for money, he was happy only little money to buy book and buy a meal for his friends.  Also, he proposed his opinion but didn’t impose us. He took the initiative  and set on example. He taught me how to go hiking ,camping and so on, and  gave me a good examples. So he is a great teacher and good father for me.
